Scott's Ministry bio

Scott had a powerful encounter with the Lord in December of 1997 while attending the University of Montana.  This experience transformed his life and mission and in the ensuing years Scott read the Bible voraciously, witnessed to many students at UM, and volunteered in numerous ministries around the Missoula community.  In the year 2000, he helped plant a church for the Assemblies of God in Germantown, Wisconsin, a growing suburb of Milwaukee.  Scott ministered to the youth and led the worship teams, but during this time he also learned more about the important work of Chi Alpha Campus Ministries.  In the fall of 2001, he moved back to Missoula and joined Associate Staff with Chi Alpha at the University of Montana.  Scott was appointed as the Director of UM Chi Alpha a year later in 2002 and served in this role for 16 years.

In 2013, Scott was elected by his peers to assume the responsibility of Chi Alpha State Director, overseeing the other 6 Chi Alpha outreaches in Montana.  Scott transitioned out of his role as UM Chi Alpha Director in 2018 in order to fully devote his time to the job of Chi Alpha State Director, resourcing and ministering to the 30+ Chi Alpha Staff at our 7 outreach locations around Montana.  Scott’s ministry passions are teaching the Bible (especially topics like the history of Israel, the work of the Holy Spirit, and witnessing in today’s world), one-to-one discipleship of growing leaders, and building spiritual community among ministers.  Scott met Anna on a Chi Alpha missions trip to Poland in 2005 and they were married two years later in December 2007.  They have two very active kids: Kuba & Maya.

What is Chi Alpha?

Chi Alpha Campus Ministries is a missional ministry to college and university students found on over 300 campuses around the U.S. Our goals are to reach university students with the good news of Jesus’ life and love and to disciple university students to grow as followers of Jesus and to discover their God-designed mission. Each Chi Alpha outreach works to form spiritual communities of students centered in the university environment devoted to worship, discipleship, fellowship, mission and prayer. Chi Alpha is under the umbrella of the Assemblies of God, but is a missional ministry, in that every Chi Alpha staff person is considered a missionary who raises support from families and churches who give monthly or yearly in order for that person to minister with Chi Alpha. Chi Alpha’s mission is to reach and disciple university students where they are on campus, so we often have our weekly gatherings, small groups and one-to-one discipleship meetings on or around the university campus.
